JANUARY 2023 –Pets Month
The residents will explore the world of Pets. We will be looking at the different types of pets, reflecting upon pets we used to have as both children and adults and we will have some special visits from our fury and feathered friends.

FEBRUARY 2023 – Jungle Month
The residents will be involved in activities relating to the Jungle. Entertainment and arts and crafts will be themed on exploration, the sights and sounds of the jungle and our own past experiences.

21st – Shrove Tuesday plus an Elvis and Swing themed set by Keegan from FREDS entertainment
24th – SU meeting at 1.15pm followed by Quiz Afternoon (Jungle themed)
27th – Rosebud Nursery children visit at 9.30am
28th – PAT Dog visit with Cash at 2.30pm
MARCH 2023 – Tv & Radio Month
The residents will be reminiscing about Tv programmes and radio shows from their youth as well as looking at the modern equivalents of today.

27th – Miss Grace old time music halls set 2pm

APRIL 2023 – All things Easter Month
The residents will be exploring all things relating to Easter and taking part in a fun Easter Egg hunt around the home. Arts and craft activities will be themed on Easter.

23rd – St Georges Day
27th – SU meeting at 1.15pm followed by Quiz Afternoon (Spring themed)
MAY 2023 – London Month
The residents will be involved in all things relating to London. We will look at the history of London, important landmarks based in London and the residents will talk about all the fun things they have done previously in London. Arts and crafts activities will be based upon the London theme.

January – December 2022
JANUARY 2022 – Public Services Month
The residents will be exploring the jobs of members of the public services including the Army, Navy, Airforce, Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigades amongst others.
10th – Cooking Club making bread rolls
12th – Church visit and service at 10.30am
14th – Presentation on “Life as a Veterinary Nurse” by Lindsey Raven Emrich at 1.30pm
20th – Music and a live Performance by Rat Pack Tribute Artist at 1.30pm
21st – Presentation on “Life as a Metropolitan Police Officer” by Matt Swan at 1.30pm
24th – Phil’s Eats n Treats Club (caramel shortbread)
28th – SU meeting at 1.30pm

FEBRUARY 2022 – Transport Month
The residents will be exploring various modes of transport throughout the years

MARCH 2022 – Movie Star Month
The residents will be looking at the many famous Movie stars throughout the decades and some of their famous works.
9th – Church visit and service at 10.30am followed by Phil’s Eats n Treats Club (Carrot Cake)
10th – A performance by the all-male choir “Lost Direction” at 2pm
16th – Cooking Club (Cheese scones)
21st -Visit by Buddy the Canine Companion dog
25th – FREDS Performing Arts singing a selection of well-known Movie songs at 10.30pm followed by our monthly SU meeting at 1.30pm and our Quiz Afternoon (Movie themed)
27th – Mother’s Day and Day at the Oscars theme day
28th – Kiddley Divey Musical Entertainment at 1.45pm
30th – Children from Fingringhoe Primary School singing songs from the courtyard
APRIL 2022 – Garden Month
The residents will be looking at things related to gardening and nature. They will also be planting their sunflower seeds for the annual sunflower growing competition

17th – Easter Sunday

Each week, the residents will focus on a different country from around the world with various themed crafts and food tasting experiences.

JUNE 2022 – The Royal Family Month
This month’s focus is on the British Royal family and in particular, we’ll be celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee with various fun filled activities.
2nd – 5th The Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Amongst the many celebrations going on nationally, the residents will also get to enjoy watching Trooping the Colour and the flypast as well taking part in the national Service of Thanksgiving.

4th – The Epsom Derby Sweepstake from 3pm onwards

The residents will explore the Great British wildlife and learn all about our interesting fauna we have living alongside us.

This month the residents will reminisce over their old school days and will be exploring things relating to education.

OCTOBER 2022 – Seasons Month
This month we will look at the four different seasons around the UK with various resident activities themed on this.

8th – A presentation by Sam Sherbourne from the charity Teach A Child Africa

This month the residents will be looking at the world of sports and in particular, they will be taking part in the Annual Aveley Lodge Olympic games which this year will focus on the Winter sports.

DECEMBER 2022 – Christmas/Festive Month
The residents will be looking at festive traditions from around the world and celebrating Christmas at Aveley Lodge with Christmas themed crafts, carol singing and xmas card writing.

7th – Church visit at 10.15am
9th – Children from St Andrews Primary School Fingringhoe attending to sing a selection of Christmas Carols followed by FREDS Performing Arts “Best of Christmas” set at 1.30pm
10th – Aveley Lodge Relatives Christmas gathering. Join us for a mince pie, sausage roll and mulled wine between 2-4pm and enter our raffle to win a festive hamper. Entertainment this year is provided by the Colchester Cancer Choir.
12th – Visit by the children from Rosebud preschool
13th – Christmas flower arranging display by Julie followed by Feering Singers at 2.30pm
14th – Visit by Canine Companion Dog at 2.30pm
15th – Pantomime “Jack & The Beanstalk”
17th – Residents and Staff Christmas Party only including Kiddley Divey Musical Entertainment at 2.30pm
18th – World Cup Football Final
19th – St Andrews Church Fingringhoe conducting a carol singing service at 10.15am
21st – Lost Direction (Male Choir) performing at 2pm
