Why Work with us?

Apart from all the benefits listed above, our supportive H.R. department were finalists in the prestigious CaringUK awards 2017 in the category for “Commitment to Training and Development”. The judges said “The management team want their staff to feel fully supported as a team member”. In 2018, the Management were finalists in the CaringUK awards in the category for “Care Employer of the Year” and our H.R. department won the award for the “Commitment to Training and Development”. We also offer the staff “Buddy” Scheme, whereby new members of staff are paired up with an experienced member of staff who they will work closely with during their induction period to help them settle in and learn more about how we operate and our residents.

Aveley Lodge has worked previously with a company called Exploring Educational Opportunities (EEO) in Colchester for assistance with one of their educational courses they ran in conjunction with Refugee Action – Colchester. EEO ran courses to help refugees based in Colchester, find local employment by escorting them to various work place settings to see for themselves what work they may be interested in undertaking in the future and to start that first all important step in finding a job. Aveley Lodge hosted occasional visits to our premises from such refugees whilst under constant supervision by a member of EEO staff.

In light of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent vaccine roll out, all our staff and residents have received three doses of the vaccine. As of 11th November 2021, the UK Government has made it a mandatory requirement of employment for anyone working within a care home setting, to have received both doses of the Covid vaccine, therefore proof of such requirement will be asked for at the interview stage. If this requirement has not been met, please speak to someone in our HR department prior to applying for a job role with us.

If you are still not sure if we are the right company for you, why not take a look at the following staff testimonials:

“I have been working at Aveley Lodge for 6 years. I originally came as an agency senior but liked what I saw so much I decided to become a permanent member of staff. In this time, I have worked my way up to become Deputy Manager. I very much enjoy coming to work and working within a family orientated environment. It’s so much fun and a wonderful working atmosphere here amongst the fabulous staff team. I have received significant training and support during my time at Aveley Lodge which has enhanced my personal learning and qualifications. The exceedingly high standard of care and support here at Aveley Lodge has superseded any previous employment I have ever been involved in”.

S. Philbrick (Deputy Manager)

“I have been at Aveley Lodge for just over three months now and I thoroughly enjoy it here! Everyone is very nice and they have helped me to settle into my job role. The residents here are lovely and I feel very supported by both my work colleagues and by management. Aveley Lodge is better than any other place I have worked at both personally and professionally. The staff team are very friendly and there is always someone here for us”.

P. Button (Care Assistant)

“I have been working at Aveley Lodge for over two and half years now and I still love working here. It’s such a lovely place to work and we get lots of support. As an individual carer I feel I can go and use my own initiative and work independently as I have been instilled with the knowledge and confidence I need and the encouragement to do so. This is my first experience of working in a care home having previously worked in a non- care related role and I still love it. I feel very much part of a team and there are plenty of opportunities to advance yourself. The residents are so lovely, and the team as a whole are fantastic, we are one big family!”.

T. Brown (Care Assistant)

“As a member of the catering team, I have to say, Aveley Lodge is a fantastic place to work. In my previous line of work, I was lucky enough to visit many care homes and none compare to Aveley Lodge, it is an outstanding home. I’m always bowled over by the vast and varied activities offered here for the residents and how everyone is included whether you are a resident or a member of staff. As a member of staff, I feel valued, listened to and I’m very well looked after. I feel supported and have lots of training opportunities. The staff team are great, there’s lots of banter and everyone gets on”.

P. Newton (Chef)

“I have worked at Aveley Lodge for 18 years. I have worked as a domestic then as a chef before going back to the domestic work when I wanted to work part time several years ago. I do like working here. I enjoy my work and those I work with. I love the building and I’m always being complemented on how nice, clean, tidy and smell free the Home is which I feel very proud of.  The home is well run and as an employee, I feel very supported and looked after”.

A. Buckland (Domestic)

“I have been working at Aveley Lodge for over 18 months now and I love it! It’s like working within the residents own home. It’s so clean, there are no unpleasant smells and it’s like no other care home I know of. I feel so supported here by my fellow work colleagues and by the management and there is so much training on offer. You certainly feel valued and included and get to have your say on important matters. Working here has definitely brought out a different side of me…fun-loving and I have gained more confidence. Even my own family have seen this change in me. It’s such a happy place to work and there are good vibes from the moment you walk in. I’m so happy to be working here! ”.

K. Warne (Team Leader)

“Aveley is a happy, buzzing place to work. We as a team work very well together. You certainly have to be very well organised though! However, there’s lots of training on offer to help us and we all have a laugh together while working. We all support each other and we love it here just as much as the residents do!”
