We at Aveley Lodge Care Home, believe exceptional care isn’t just about what happens inside our home, it’s about what happens on the outside too. We therefore try to be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible and show care and compassion for the world beyond. Ultimately, we must all protect our planet as it’s what we all have in common and it’s our only home!
We take immense pride in our responsibility to a healthier environment for everyone and therefore, firmly believe change must start at home. We are committed to driving sustainability best practices throughout our business as a whole, limiting the impact on our local environment. We consider short and long term goals to ensure we maintain a positive influence on environmental, social and corporate governance. By prioritising low-impact areas and enriching biodiversity, we transform underutilised spaces into vibrant, green communities for wildlife.
Our home features cutting-edge, energy-efficient systems, and we’re committed to reducing resource consumption through renewable energy generation, retrofitting the existing property, and adopting sustainable procurement and waste management practices.
We are proud to have been involved in a number of sustainable projects over the years. We were thrilled to be accepted as a Platinum Investor of The Essex Wildlife Trust in September 2021. Our residents planted a wildflower meadow border to support the Essex Wildlife Trusts “Action for Insects” 2021 campaign. In 2022, our Rose Memorial Garden was created, and we planted our own magnificent Jubilee Tree to mark the Queens Platinum Jubilee year and our very own contribution to the Queens International Green Canopy initiative within the same year. We have also established Aveley Lodge’s very own “Green Team” which is made up of staff and service users who meet on a regular basis to help take our recycling & environmental sustainability to the next level.
